Nice to see that you’ve found me. I’m Louise, and I have the honor and pleasure of working as a wedding photographer in Stockholm.

Photographing weddings is an absolute passion. When I take photos, time and space disappear. From behind the camera, I see every little moment as part of a story. While your day whizzes by and you are absorbed in the present, my job is to capture all the little moments. So that afterwards you have a story about you, your day and what was going on around you.

Documentary photography style

Photographers shoot in different styles. Some want to create images that are more arranged, while others stay more distant and document the day as it unfolds. My photography style is more documentary. During the larger part of your day, I’m a bit like “a fly on the wall”: Observing and capturing what is happening while refraining from interrupting or effecting the events.

Storytelling photos

But the way I photograph is first and foremost storytelling – sometimes without being documentary. It does happen, for example, that I arrange things. Such as placing your rings in a specific way against a selected background in a certain light. Or I might hang the wedding dress in a certain location for the photos. I might ask you to suddenly stop at a place, because the light and background are so beautiful at that moment. Everything about your day contains emotions and storytelling. I want your photos to capture what is special about you and your day, what is happening in the moment, the atmosphere and feeling around you.

Natural portraits and creative ideas

 

 

 

Of course, we talk a lot before the actual day, and particularly during your consultation. So that we’re on the same page about what we should do for your particular wedding. You may want your portrait in a specific and significant place. There is perhaps a certain image that is extra important to you. Or are you planning a very special surprise moment that must not be missed? You may mainly want documentary images. Or a portrait session that is a little bit more creative and posed.

Tell me! Make the most of your consultation time, it is included in your booking and costs nothing extra. The more I know in advance, the more planned I can be at your wedding, so I don’t need to interrupt your actual day with unnecessary questions.

 

 

 

4 years of training to become a photographer

 

The fact that I became a wedding photographer was a bit of a coincidence. I started a 2-year photography course at collage in London, after becoming interested from acting as a model for a student’s shoot. It was back in the days, when we still developed from film in the darkroom. A cozy time, filled with excitement and anticipation around the image that slowly took shape in a water bath.

Later on I focused on Documentary and Fashion photography through 2 years of vocational training at Westminster University. I loved fashion projects, where I got to think creatively, scout locations, and create stories and themes.

Me and a classmate who also wanted to become a fashion photographer got to shoot a wedding together on request. With a ceremony in S:t Paul’s Cathedral, a cruise on River Themes, all the joy, atmosphere, and all the amazing moments waiting to be captured, we loved every second. We both made a U-turn, and a week later we started up as wedding photographers!

 

 

I’ve started up my business 3 times

 

I first started up in London in 2008, photographing weddings for 8 years in all sorts of settings – old Churches, Mansions, party tents, Monasteries, barns, castles, Mosques, Temples, warehouses, gardens, groves and hotels. Weddings in cities and in the countryside. As well as weddings with different themes – such as detective mysteries, fairy tales, film, Gatsby, vintage, Art deco and Rock & Roll. Some weddings are posted on my blog. Which is my source to inspire brides and grooms who are planning their wedding. In addition to weddings, I also shot portfolios for companies in architecture & construction, and designed their brochures.

But 8 years and around 100 weddings later, I longed to go home. So I packed my life into a van and moved back to Stockholm.

I restarted my business, this time as a wedding photographer in Stockholm. But judge my surprise when I fairly soon found out that I was to become a mom (!) Not long after having my son, the pandemic arrived. So at that point, I took a much needed break from running a business. And got a more safe career, with “only” 40 hrs work weeks, paid holidays and time to be a mom ♥.

Now I’m back a third time as a wedding photographer. This time alongside my permanent employment. I undertake a few wedding bookings per year. Because it’s my passion: to capture moments, people and stories from behind the camera.

• • I’m first and foremost the mother of a wonderful and bubbly little 5-year-old boy.
  • When I have time, I am a real Yogi and practice all types of yoga. I’ve also trained to become an Ashtanga instructor in India.
  • Wedding dresses fascinates me. This interest came to me when I started shooting wedding fashion in 2012. It’s amazing how many different ways there are to design a wedding dress (!) And to capture all the different styles up on the catwalk is a wonderful challenge. Sometimes I post chapters on my blog from fashion shows that I’ve photographed, as inspiration for brides and grooms.
  • My other job when I’m not photographing? Something completely different. Then I work with on-board service and operations management for a train company.
  • Fun fact about me: I was born with hip joint defects – so severe that I was doomed to never walk. But I became one of the first cases in the world, to try a new kind of operation with an American specialist. With this I was expected to hopefully walk at the age of 3. Then already at 11 months, I took my first staggered steps ♣.
